Training

One of the greatest obstacles that can prevent agencies from protecting children and adults that may be vulnerable to accusations of witchcraft is lack of awareness that the problem exists. This gap in understanding has recently been identified in the UK with the government’s publication of the national action plan to tackle child abuse linked to faith or belief.

WHRIN is able to provide a bespoke training package to empower professionals who work with groups and individuals who have suffered or are vulnerable to accusations of witchcraft or spirit possession. Our training programme, which has been developed by WHRIN with support from a number of expert social workers, police, lawyers and child protection practitioners, is tailored to meet the specific needs of your organisation. Training enables participants to gain a deeper understanding of the different cultural perspectives of witchcraft and spirit possession, identify the signs of abuse and develop the skills needed to safeguard victims and those at risk of abuse.

Training events are held throughout the year in UK and Ireland. For information on upcoming trainings please see here. A small number of bursaries are provided on each training event for small charities.

If your organisation requires our training services please do contact us to discuss how we can develop our package to best meet your organisational needs.
