India: 12 held for witch-hunting deaths in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Twelve people have been arrested in Meghalaya in connection with the recent case of ” witch hunting” in the state that involved lynching of three persons. On this backdrop, the state government has sought “specific suggestions” from the civil society for framing appropriate laws to end the criminal and superstitious practice of branding people as “witches” and their subsequent lynching.
